Allow me to vent (because my blog doesn't link here directly): because I am not officially part of the Writing Program faculty, the grad student who wanted to do his final project with me now cannot do so. The only other fiction writer has made clear her contempt for his work which uses medieval lit and fantasy. I think he might drop out -- he nearly did last semester after getting an email from the program head who told him he didn't belong in grad school. Then he found out most of the other grad students got the same email. How fucked up is that?
